Since a child's first writing tool is usually a crayon, that crayon should be one that encourages him or
her to
use thumb, first and second fingers to grasp.  This tripod grip encouragement makes Crayon
Rocks an excellent handwriting practice tool and a wonderful coloring material.

That crayon should also take very little effort in applying great swaths of color to the paper, as is the
usual desire of young children. In fact, that crayon should be as much like paint as is possible.  Special
education teachers and Occupational Therapists for children agree that Crayon Rocks achieves all those
things.  Great colors that go on smoothly and easily, almost like paint, help little fingers grow strong as
they spill their creative ideas onto paper; wonderful art therapy for children!

Perhaps, more importantly to me, I wanted a coloring tool that students with grip strength problems
and sensory processing disorders affecting fine motor control, which can be found in cerebral palsy,
autism, developmental delays and various forms of learning disabilities, could use AND enjoy.  It has
been lots of fun to see what my students do with their Crayon Rocks.  You can view some of their work

Children and teachers have tested Crayon Rocks in the classroom with exceptional results. The children
get excited to use these crayons, and are practicing their hand strengthening skills to the delight of
teachers and kids alike.  There is nothing in the world quite like Crayon Rocks!  Order yours now by

Hi,
My name is Barbara Lee DaBoll and I have been teaching children with special needs for 22 years.  I
invented Crayon Rocks after being inspired by Jan Olsen, OTR, and the Handwriting Without Tears
program.  I learned from her how important it was to develop
early a good tripod grip. Handwriting
skills depends upon this.
